What does love mean?

I am a big fan of kids. That’s why when I got an email from a former co-worker at a newspaper company about what kids have to say about the word “LOVE,” I decided to blog the article. It reminded me of a television show I used to watch as a kid which featured hilarious interviews with children, entitled “Kids Say the Darnedest Things,” hosted by Bill Cosby. I think the comedian later produced his own collection of kids’ sayings under the same title. But I don’t know if it is now also being shown in the Philippine TV.

Here’s a copy of Eloisa’s forwarded email. Read it and at the end you will see my reaction when I finished reading it. Have fun!

A group of professional people posted this question to a group of 4 to 8 year olds. "What does love mean?" The responses they got were broader and deeper than anyone could have imagined.

When my grandma got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint her toenails anymore. So my grandpa does it for her now all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That's love. -- Rebecca, age 8

When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You just know that your name is safe in their mouths.-- Billy, age 4

Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving Cologne and they go out and smell each other.-- Kari, age 5

Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French Fries without making them give you any of theirs.--Chrissy, age 6

Love is what makes you smile when you're tired.--Terri, age 4

Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK. -- Danny, age 7

Love is when you kiss all the time. Then when you get tired of kissing, you still want to be together and you talk more. My mommy and daddy are like that. They look gross when they kiss. -- Emily, age 8

Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen. -- Bobby, age 7 (wow!)

If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate. -- Nikka, age 6

Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it everyday. -- Noelle, age 7

Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still friends even after they know each other so well.-- Tommy, age 6

During my piano recital, I was on stage and I was scared. I looked at all the people watching me and saw my daddy waving and smiling. He was the only one doing that. I wasn't scared anymore. -- Cindy, age 8

My mommy loves me more than anybody. You don't see anyone else kissing me to sleep at night. -- Clare- age 6

Love is when mommy gives daddy the best piece of chicken. --Elaine, age 5

Love is when mommy sees daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsomer than Robert Redford. --Chris, age 7

Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day. --Mary Ann, age 4

When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you. -- Karen, age 7

Love is when mommy sees daddy on the toilet and doesn't think it's gross. --Mark, age 6

You really shouldn't say "I LOVE YOU" unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget. Jessica- age 8

And the winner was a 4 year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly man who had just lost his wife. When the child saw the man cry, the little boy went over into the man's yard and climbed on top of the man's lap and just sat there. When the boy's mother asked him what he'd said to the neighbor, the little boy said, "Nothing, I just helped him cry."

(Sigh)

Simple Things

I love beautiful things. In this weblog, I will show you the things that I appreciate as they are and where they are. Art, design, photography, mountains, blue sky, flowers, landscapes, pottery, jewellery, textures, colours, buildings, and people. These are some of the beautiful things that make me say wow.

But most of all, I love simple things in life. For this reason, I wanted my blogsite to show what it really takes to make us happy. Besides satisfying work that gives meaning to life, simple things?such as fresh air, sunlight, flowers, trees, and birds?are God-given gifts that I truly enjoy. A kind thought, a sympathetic touch, a soft gesture, a warm smile, a loving act, the laughter of a child at play, the gurglings of a baby in its crib, the dignity and wisdom of an old person rich in life?s experiences?these are things that really satisfy me.

Anyway, all that really matters in this crazy world is to be with people that you love and you do your best to please and serve God.

I wanted my online journal to look like a sketchbook. I wanted it to look simple, clean and open, with a nice balance of words and pictures. I wanted to break up the text blocks with sketchy lines and irregular shapes. Yes, something that is easy on the eyes and easy to read. Most of all I wanted my site to look personal, friendly and very unlike the typical weblog out there.

Happy reading!

Sick and Weak
Mood:  blue
Topic: All in a Day's Life
I am incredibly physically weak right now and I still have a ton of work to do. I stayed up last night at 2am talking to my best friend. He has a problem and he needs someone to listen to him. I then slept in the morning and I'm really tired. I'm sorry if I havent composed myself yet. But, I really want to start a testimony of my feelings soon here in my blog.

However, there's something good happened to me when I went only in my YM. I got to talk with my cousin from Pulau, Micronesia and we shared lots of our stories in life, more particularly lovelife. We both agreed that love comes when you least expect it. When it comes on knocking, you should also ready to open the door, to receive love.

That's all for now. I am going to do laundry now, and later at night, I hope to get to talk to my best friend and solve the issue that we are having right now.

Live life the fullest.

First Time
Mood:  happy
Now Playing: aloha!
Now, I still don't know what to write here. Honestly, I haven't written any journal yet in my entire life. Yes, this is my first time to do such an enriching experience as a single -- to write my own blog on the internet. I hope this will turn out well for me. I just want to tell myself an inspiring message: Happy writing anything under the sun!
